    Description

This old stein was made by
    JW Remy
. It is a tavern scene with 2 men enjoying a stein with a dog at one of their feet. Also, women out on a stroll. The phrases on the stein are :Es Nie Zu Wahere Freude Brinkt, and :Wer Nicht Liebt Trinkt und Singt.
It never brings true joy. Who does not love drinks and sings.
    The stein #806
was manufactured in very late 1890s - early 1900s and is made in "etched" technique - the contours of the drawing look like they are engraved - thus creating a very attractive decoration. The etched technique is usually associated with Mettlach stein but there were some other manufacturers that used this technology. It was very labor-intensive and expensive but produced excellent results. Etched steins are quite rare. The colors were painted by hand. Measures approx 5.5" tall and the base 3 3/4" W. Holds .3L. The original hole is drilled, for a new lid/cover converter, if you prefer a lid.
I see the same stein on eBay with the cover for 9.95.
    Thank you for looking.
