Beautiful and " Mint" pair of antique French Opera glasses / binoculars, Carpentier, Paris circa 1900
A beautiful pair antique French gilt bronze, guilloche enamel and mother of pearl opera glasses / binoculars  stamped Carpentier, Paris. circa 1900. Opera glasses were a show of class in their time: the more ornate and sophisticated pairs belonged to the wealthy "bourgeoisie" and aristocracy. This example showcases the use of  three different mediums; gilt bronze, mother of pearl and guilloche enamel. The gold wash contrasts wonderfully with the deep forest green guilloche and the white iridescent mother of pearl, showcasing all mediums and colors to perfection.
These glasses are in perfect condition and
in perfect working order and can be used, or kept on display:  they are truly gorgeous. They come in their original green leather pouch, with surface discoloration.
