    Description

Estate item, from a 90 year collector and good friend, this unit was patented in 1880.  Cast iron, this particular one must have been made from a worn mold, the lettering for the company's name is very blurred.  when I found this in the estate, mixed in with other oddities, it was not working, I cleaned it, reassembled it, replaced a missing piece of wire that holds the cutter assembly to the turntable, and replaced a rusted out spring that pulls the cutter to the apple, and now it is working.  One of the apple holding tines is soldered in place, I did only the minimum repairs to make it work, so that its authenticity would not be compromised.  I highlighted the lettering so that you could read it in the photos.   These rotary cutter parers seem to be more rare (and they are certainly more interesting to look at) than the ones with a non-rotating straight blade.
there is a You Tube video of this specific unit in action, here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iB-nZdLCPaM
