Description

HUGE SALTGLAZED STONEWARE GERMAN BEER STEIN
This is a nice old stoneware stein from Germany with Cobalt blue glaze details.
It has a deep relief designs including a dog head , a deer head and a elk head in brown glaze
It has a bulb-shaped base with a ram's head with curled horns in deep relief.
The stein has a hinged pewter lid with a thumb rest and ornate detailing.
The handle is also very ornate.
There are words in German-
"
Sichere Hand, die Augenoffen; gut gezielt, ist halb getroffen.
"
which roughly translates to English to say
"Safe hand, eyes open, well-targeted-is half hit"

I believe it is about 3 Liters
It is a large stein measuring 18" tall and it measures 6" diameter at the base.
