Mettlach Beer Stein Pug 1143 Drinking Companions Villeroy & Boch 1909 H. Schlitt

This is a Mettlach Villeroy & Boch beer stein / pug that belonged to my uncle who was a beer distributor and AVID stein collector.
Designed by artist Heinrich Schlitt  (born 1849 - died 1923) his designs evoke a time of knights and gnomes and cavalry to name a few themes.
This stein is etched 1909 and numbered 1143.  It is 1/2 Liter and has a lovely embossed pewter top with thumb lift that features a "wench"
serving up a mug of beer.
It bears the
Mercury mark
on the base bearing the Villeroy & Boch name and semicircular banner bearing the Mettlach factory name. Really nice!!!!
I have seen this mug referred to as " Drinking Companions " or " Cavaliers" .
No chips, cracks or nips.  Great condition for its age.   Please utilize the zoom feature in my photos to see great closeup details of the stein.
