    Description

New Old Stock from 1961. Very rare Scientific Tool Works of Portland, Oregon peeler.  Manufactured in Portland, Oregon for the pear canning industry.  This is a rare opportunity to acquire these kitchen primitive collectibles.
This very unusual design was made for right and left handed people .  The blade peels by pulling toward your body, the loop was used to remove the pear core and the hook was used to remove the stem.  The one you are buying is the right hand model but can be used either way.  If using left-handed you would push the blade away from your body.
These have many uses, such as peeling apples, potatoes, make potato chips or just a cool collectible and conversation piece from the 1960's and prior pear canning industry.
I'm the grandson of the person that owned Scientific Tools Works.
The last time these were made was 1961 ,These will never be made again , when the ones I have are gone they are gone
