Description
The W. S. George Pottery Company was established in East Palestine, Ohio, in 1904, and continued in business into the 1960s.This piece is made in the "Derwood" shape, which was introduced in 1911, and was used for 30 or so years.
I believe is Pattern Number 61900.
It features a narrow black band with a pink roses.
This platter measures about 9 3/4 x 13 inches.
There is a smooth chips on the underside at the edge.
I think this is a very early piece, perhaps even before 1920, based on the overall crazing and browning.
It is a character piece that would enhance your vintage plate collection.
