Up for your consideration is this Reinhold Merkelbach pewter lidded beer stein. Marking on the bottom indicates made between 1916 and 1936.  NO cracks or chips. One of the Nicest early beer stein put out by Reinhold Merkelbach. Stein is a beautiful Cobalt Blue over a grey background. Three different cities pictured on the stein. Top is engraved in German. The best I can translate is "Fun souvenir to the Schoenberg rage in the homeland. More markings around the edge of the lid that is smaller print but could add more to the story/history of the stein if translated. Looks like they could be names. What a wonderful gift from someone at that time. Marked Reinhold Merkelbach Grenzhausen 3539 SS on the bottom. Towns on the stein are Haupthahnhof, Rathaus,and Lancestheater .  Measure 5 1/4" tall by 4 1/4" wide.
