Simon Peter Gerz Cobalt & Manganese Stoneware & Pewter Motto Stein C. 1862-1893
Westerwald style cobalt blue and manganese purple decorated salt glaze stoneware stein. With heavy incised designs and a cobalt saying in 19th century German. Has a matching pewter mounted stoneware lid. Also marked with a point 5 liter capacity mark. Marked on the bottom with a mark used by Simon Peter Gerz between 1862 and 1893.
Excellent condition with no chips, cracks or losses. One small area of the pewter lid is slightly bent.
Measures approximately 5 3/8 inches wide x 7 1/4 inches tall.
This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece.
