Unusual Vintage “Latch String” Cottage House Embroidered String/Yarn Holder
This auction features a very unusual vintage embroidered piece.
It features an appliqued and embroidered cottage house and embroidered on the roof are the words “Pull the Latch String”.
On the front of the piece is the “door” which is a pocket with an eyelet hole in it.
You can place a ball of string or yarn in the pocket and pull the string out through the hole.
It has a wood stick that slides through the top and rings on the top to hang it on the wall.
There are pockets in the top that I imagine could be used to hold additional yarn or whatever.
I have collected vintage textiles for many years and have never seen anything like this before.
It is quite large – measuring 26” wide and 15” tall.
Please note - this is quite expensive to ship because of the length of the stick.  If you want me to ship it without the stick the shipping would be about .00 less (depends on your location).  The stick is about a 1" wide flat stick like you would have at the bottom of a roller shade.
It in excellent condition but it quite dirty and could use a bath.
