VERY LARGE 3-LITER GERMAN BEER STEIN
This is a nice old pottery stein from Germany.
It has deeply embossed designs of figures from the Crusades including Peter von Amiens and Balduin.
The pottery is cream colored with a dark green background.
The stein has a hinged pewter lid with a thumb rest.
There are German words in a band which translate roughly to:
"On the Jurney to the Promised Land, Many a big Fire is Suffered- Drink in Long Drafts Sufficient for You Here
"

It is stamped #331 3L in the bottom.
It is a large stein measuring 15-1/2" tall and it measures 6-1/4" diameter at the base.
