    Description

Higgins American Drawing Company was founded by Charles Higgins in 1880. He was the first to use the iconic wide-based bottle and dropper that is still used in the line today. The ink was manufactured in Brooklyn, NY from its inception till the late 1960s.
This is a vintage set of No. 9 Complete Assortment 18 3/8 oz bottles in the original box, made by Higgins American Drawing Company of Brooklyn, NY. The No.9 Higgins Drawing Ink was a professional-quality waterproof drawing ink made for artists, architects, engineers, designers, illustrators, cartoonists, letterers, colorists, and craftsmen. The 3/8 oz bottles were indicated as trial sizes. All of the 18 glass bottles (with Higgins Drawing Ink 12 B embossed on the base) contain the color ink as noted and appear to be in great shape. They seem unused and full, except for the 4 bottles that seem to have a little less: carmine red, brick white, russet and white (see pictures). As they have not recently been opened or tested, they may only be good for display/collectible items. Today Higgins ink bottles, even though still have the same look are made of plastic. The exact year made is unknown but around the 1960s; possibly 1961 as written “61” on the bottom of the box.
    Dimensions: box (10” L x 5” W x 2 ¼” H; bottle (1 ½ dimension and 2” height).
Sold as-is. Please see pictures for further details and feel free to ask if you have any questions.
