    Description

This is a handsome vintage but not antique GAME BIRD stein is decorated with transfer patterns of Mallard ducks on one side and Pheasants on the other.  There are markings on the bottom which would lead one to believe that this is actually an old Dresden mug:  Under the glaze is an impressed mark reading "Dresden 1850".  And there is a blue (ink?) mark with a 3-prong crown above a cursive "D" or it could also be interpreted as "FD", and "handarbeit" below the initial(s).
So here is the CAUTIONARY INFORMATION.  I had trouble researching this mark, and finally found one clear reference on PM&M porcelainmarksandmore in the "Misrepresented" section.  There is a clear photograph of the blue mark and the following information: "Often claimed to be from 'around 1900' by porcelain shoe collectors.  They are way off as the company responsible for this mark was founded in 1951."  I was not able to find any further information about the name of this company misrepresenting itself...  it may not even be made in Germany as the "Dresden 1850" would indicate.  If you happen to know, please tell me!  I have another nice stein by the same company.
